about me
Kayla Gonzalez is an accomplished dancer, educator, and arts administrator with a deep passion for movement and the creative process. She grew up in Henderson, NV, and now resides on the Upper West Side of New York City. A graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, Kayla earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance Performance in 2022, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
During her time at Wayne State, she had the opportunity to perform in works by renowned choreographers such as Twyla Tharp, Meg Paul, Bosmat Nosson, Dr. Biba Bell, and Stephanie Troyak. The program emphasized student exploration, allowing her to participate in a variety of creative processes, from dance films to evening-length performances. This environment also enabled her to showcase her own choreography in department concerts. Throughout her academic career, Kayla took on leadership roles, including Artistic Director, Outreach Committee Chair, and Rehearsal Director, further developing her interest in arts administration.
In addition to her performance and creative endeavors, Kayla earned her STOTT Pilates Comprehensive Certification on scholarship with mentorship from Hannah Andersen. She currently shares her passion for movement as a Pilates instructor, working with a diverse clientele ranging from ages 14 to 92 across New York City.
Kayla's professional career includes performing with Stefanie Nelson Dancegroup at New York Fashion Week in 2022 and showcasing her own work in a festival created by Stefanie Nelson in 2024. For the past three years, she has worked with Amplified Productions, serving as the Competition Administrator. In this role, she has toured with Adrenaline Dance Convention and Revive Dance Convention, overseeing the competition aspects of weekend events.
Kayla is widely recognized for her joy, rigor, and discipline as she seamlessly moves between various dance genres, educational roles, and administrative positions. She is deeply committed to sharing her love of movement, whether through her personal practice or helping others connect more deeply with their bodies.
